Putnam County Defendant Convicted of Three Counts of Capital Sexual Battery

PALATKA – After a three-day trial, a Putnam County jury found defendant John Hudson guilty as charged of three counts of Sexual Battery on person less than 12 years of age, three counts of Sexual Battery on person 12 to 18 years of age by a person in familial or custodial authority and Tampering in Felony Life/Capital Proceeding. Immediately following the verdict, he was sentenced to mandatory life in prison for the crimes.

“Another example of how your prosecutors make our community a better and safer place,” State Attorney R.J. Larizza said about the case. “And God bless our courageous victim for her heartbreaking testimony.”

The case was investigated by the Putnam County Sheriff’s Office. Assistant State Attorneys Deb Rothenberg and Alexander Gilewicz successfully tried the case for the state. The Honorable Alicia Washington presided over the case and pronounced sentence.
