Anderson gets 3 Life Sentences in Deadly Daytona Beach Shooting Spree

DAYTONA BEACH โ€“ During a hearing this morning, defendant Jerome Anderson entered no contest pleas to three counts of First-Degree Murder (Firearm) and was sentenced to three consecutive life sentences.

On the morning of July 12, 2023, Anderson shot his roommate inside their home on Park Drive in Daytona Beach.

Witnesses reported that the defendant then walked out to the street and shot two more men. Video surveillance shows Anderson chasing one of the victims in the roadway and firing at him, including while he was on the ground.

All three victims were shot multiple times and died.

A witness told detectives that the defendant had argued with the victims the night before at a convenience store and made threats to kill them.

During an interview with detectives, Anderson admitted to shooting his roommate and others.

“The defendant is a dangerous and violent offender,” State Attorney R.J. Larizza said about the case. “Removing him from our community was essential to our duty to protect you and your family.”

The case was investigated by the Daytona Beach Police Department. Assistant State Attorney Andrew Urbanak successfully prosecuted the case on behalf of the State of Florida. The Honorable Kathryn Weston heard the case and pronounced sentence.
