Case Number: 2025 108295 CFDL

Volusia County Defendant Sentenced to Prison in Violent Home Invasion

DELAND โ€“ During a hearing on Thursday, defendant Christopher Allen was sentenced to 25 years in prison followed by 10 years of probation. He entered no contest pleas last week to Burglary of a Dwelling while Armed with a Firearm and Wearing a Mask, two counts of Aggravated Assault (Firearm) (while Wearing a Mask), Tampering with Physical Evidence, and Possession of Firearm by Convicted In-State Felon (while Wearing a Mask).

On Dec. 1, 2025, Allen went to his ex-girlfriendโ€™s DeLand home with a gun and a ski mask and tricked her into opening the door.

Allen pointed the gun at the victim and backed her into the home. When she yelled that he had a gun, her ex-husband armed himself and came to her aid. After several attempts to get the defendant to drop the gun, he ended up shooting him in the arm.

Allen then ran away and left the gun and ski mask in his path. With the help of Volusia Sheriffโ€™s Office Air One and Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission K9 handlers, the defendant was found and arrested a few blocks away from the scene.

โ€œAnother violent felon off our streets for a quarter century,โ€ State Attorney R.J. Larizza said about the case. โ€œThe safety of you and your family is your prosecutors’ number one priority. Thank them for their efforts when you have the opportunity to do so.โ€

The case was investigated by the DeLand Police Department with assistance from the Volusia Sheriffโ€™s Office, Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission, and the Florida Department of Law Enforcement. Assistant State Attorney Nicholas Kramperth successfully prosecuted the case for the State of Florida. The Honorable Karen Foxman heard the case and imposed sentence.
