State of Florida v. Scott P. March

Press Release | October 7, 2026

DOB: 03/26/1962

Case Number: 2025 107624 CFDB

Volusia County Defendant Sentenced to Prison for Double-Fatal Crash

DAYTONA BEACH โ€“ During a hearing on Wednesday, Volusia County defendant Scott March was sentenced to 47 years in prison. In August, he entered no contest pleas to two counts of Vehicular Homicide and two counts of DUI Manslaughter.

On Nov. 1, 2025, March was driving recklessly on State Road A1A in Volusia County. He was going 147 mph just seconds before the crash and 110 mph when he attempted to pass another vehicle in a designated no-passing zone. March hit the rear of the vehicle, causing it to overturn.

The driver of the vehicle died at the scene. The passenger died from her injuries at the hospital.

The toxicology report showed that the defendant had a blood alcohol level of approximately 0.13% at the time of the deadly crash, well above the legal limit of 0.08%.

โ€œTwo people are dead because the defendant chose to drive in a reckless and intoxicated state,โ€ State Attorney R.J. Larizza said about the case. โ€œForty-seven years in prison cannot bring them back, but it does send a clear message to drunk drivers that you will pay dearly for your criminal transgressions.โ€

The Florida Highway Patrol and State Attorney Investigators investigated the case. Assistant State Attorney Ashley Terwilleger successfully prosecuted the case for the State of Florida. The Honorable Christian Miller heard the case and imposed sentence.
