Volusia County Defendant Sentenced to Decades in Prison for Sexual Battery

DAYTONA BEACH โ€“ During a hearing this morning, defendant Michael Strout was sentenced to 45 years in prison followed by lifetime sex offender probation. He will also be designated as a sexual predator.

In March, a Volusia County jury found the defendant guilty of Sexual Battery on a Minor 12 to 18 years of age by Person in Familial or Custodial Authority.

This sentence will run consecutive to a 10-year sentence that Strout is already serving in a separate Violation of Probation case.

“Another example of your prosecutors protecting you and your family,” State Attorney R.J. Larizza said about the case. “It is our solemn duty and our pleasure.โ€

The Daytona Beach Police Department investigated the case. Assistant State Attorney Helen Schwartz successfully prosecuted the case on behalf of the State of Florida. The Honorable Elizabeth Blackburn heard the case and imposed sentence.
