Press Release | October 3, 2025

DOB: 11/27/1993

Case Number: 2024 102567 CFDB

Volusia County Defendant Convicted of Killing the Father of Her Child

DELAND โ€“ After a full-week trial and six hours of deliberation, a Volusia County jury found defendant Jasmoray Baugh guilty of Manslaughter with a Firearm.

In the early morning hours of Dec. 11, 2022, Baugh sent the father of her child a text message threatening to put him โ€œunder the groundโ€ after he vandalized her car.

She then got in her car and drove around looking for the victim. When Baugh found him on West Chipola Avenue in DeLand, she shot him in the chest and drove off.

The victim died from his injuries at the scene.

Cell phone records, surveillance video and witness statements put the defendant in the area at the time of the murder.

Baugh testified at trial that she acted in self-defense.

โ€œThe defendant killed the victim for vandalizing her car,โ€ State Attorney R.J. Larizza said about the case. โ€œHer retaliation could cost her 30 years in prison. A sad testament to the human condition.โ€

The Volusia Sheriffโ€™s Office investigated the case. Assistant State Attorneys Nick Kramperth and Mike Willard successfully tried the case for the state. The Honorable Karen Foxman presided over the case and is set to pronounce sentence on Nov. 5, 2025. Baugh faces up to 30 years in prison for the crime.
