Volusia County Defendant Convicted for Child Sexual Abuse

DELAND – After a two-day trial this afternoon, a Volusia County jury found defendant Gregory Somers guilty as charged of two counts of Lewd/Lascivious Molestation of Victim less than 12 years of age.

The case was investigated by the Volusia Sheriff’s Office. Assistant State Attorney Jeanne Stratis successfully tried the case for the state. The Honorable Dawn Nichols presided over the case and will pronounce sentence at a later date. Somers now faces up to life in prison with a 25-year minimum mandatory.
