Prather Sentenced to Life in Prison for Cycle of Child Sexual Abuse
DELAND โ During a hearing on Wednesday, Volusia County defendant Trent Prather entered guilty pleas to 15 counts of Sexual Battery on victim less than 12 years of age, two counts of Lewd/Lascivious Molestation on victim less than 12 years of age, Lewd/Lascivious Exhibition on victim less than 16 years of age and 18 counts of Promoting Sexual Performance by a Child. Prather was then sentenced to life in prison for the convictions.
Between May 2025 and March 2026, the defendant recorded himself sexually abusing a nine-year-old victim.
โThere are few things in this world that are worse than repeatedly raping a small child,โ State Attorney R.J. Larizza said about the case. โEspecially when the pedophile videos the rapes for future viewing and trade. It defies explanation.โ
The case was investigated by the Volusia Sheriffโs Office. Assistant State Attorney Nicholas Kramperth prosecuted the case for the State of Florida. The Honorable Karen Foxman heard the case and imposed sentence.
