Williams Convicted for Stabbing Wife to Death in Bunnell Neighborhood

BUNNELL โ€“ After a two-day trial and only 20 minutes of deliberation, a Flagler County jury of 10 women and two men found defendant Jermaine Williams Sr. guilty as charged of First-Degree Murder.

On Aug. 2, 2024, Williams stabbed his wife to death in the street outside of their Bunnell home.

The victimโ€™s 14-year-old son witnessed the stabbing and tried to intervene. The defendantโ€™s father, who lives nearby, happened upon the scene and held Williams at gunpoint until he stepped away from the victim.

The victim was stabbed 19-20 times. She was taken to the hospital, where she died from her injuries.

Surveillance video captured the defendant going inside the home and returning with an eight-inch chefโ€™s knife before attacking the victim.

After his arrest, Williams admitted he retrieved the knife from the kitchen and stabbed his wife multiple times. He told detectives a comment she made โ€œpushed him over the edge.โ€

โ€œThis was a brutal and vicious murder,โ€ State Attorney R.J. Larizza said after the verdict was read. โ€œWe move on to the sentencing phase where we will be seeking the death penalty.โ€

The case was investigated by the Bunnell Police Department with assistance from the Flagler County Sheriffโ€™s Office. Chief of Homicide Jason Lewis and Assistant State Attorney Helen Schwartz successfully tried the case for the State of Florida. The Honorable Dawn Nichols heard the case and will impose sentence at the conclusion of the penalty phase, which begins next Tuesday, July 21, 2026.
