Press Release | July 22, 2025

DOB: 05/01/2000

Case Number: 2023 301233 CFDB

Young Guns Defendant Sentenced in Attempted Murder that Left Victim Visually Impaired

DAYTONA BEACH โ€“ During a hearing this morning, Young Guns defendant Haresh Barlow was sentenced to life in prison. He pleaded no contest in April to Attempted First-Degree Murder with a Firearm.

On March 12, 2023, Barlow, who was only 22 years old at the time, shot his childhood friend multiple times outside of his home before driving away from the scene.

The victim has permanent visual impairment from a gunshot wound to the face. Multiple witnesses identified the defendant as the shooter, and he was later arrested.

During his interview, Barlow told detectives that he โ€œhad to handle businessโ€ and admitted to shooting the victim.

โ€œAnother Young Guns defendant permanently removed from our streets,โ€ State Attorney R.J. Larizza said about Barlow. โ€œHe shot his childhood friend multiple times to make a statement? It is very disturbing to see such disdain for the sanctity of life.โ€

The case was investigated by the Daytona Beach Police Department. Assistant State Attorney Ashley McCarthy successfully prosecuted the case for the state. The Honorable Leah Case presided over the case and pronounced sentence.
