St. Johns County Defendant Convicted of Three Counts of Capital Sexual Battery
ST. AUGUSTINE โ After a two-day trial, a St. Johns County jury found defendant George Lightkep guilty as charged of three counts of Sexual Battery on person less than 12 years of age. Immediately following the verdict, he was sentenced to mandatory life in prison for the crimes.
โThe defendant is a serial child rapist pedophile,โ State Attorney R.J. Larizza said about the case. โHe preyed upon young girls between the ages of six and nine years old. God bless and keep our victims who came forward and provided detailed testimony of the sexual abuse.โ
The case was investigated by the St. Johns County Sheriffโs Office. Assistant State Attorney Sarah Thomas successfully tried the case for the state. The Honorable Lee Smith presided over the case and pronounced sentence.
This sentence will run consecutively to the life sentence that Lightkep is currently serving. He was convicted in 2021 for two additional counts of Sexual Battery on person less than 12 years of age in a separate St. Johns County case.
