Former Daycare Employee Convicted of Several Counts of Child Molestation

ST. AUGUSTINE – After a two-day trial this evening, a St. Johns County jury found defendant Anthony Guadalupe guilty of 12 counts of Lewd and Lascivious Molestation on a person less than 12 years of age, one count of Attempted Lewd and Lascivious Molestation and three counts of Committing Unnatural or Lascivious Act.

Guadalupe, a former daycare employee, committed the crimes during the summer of 2022 when he worked at Chappell Schools in the Durbin Crossing neighborhood.

“The jury worked hard and was true to their oath,” State Attorney R.J. Larizza said about the case. “We now move on to sentencing with our mission being to hold the defendant accountable for his crimes.”

The case was investigated by the St. Johns County Sheriff’s Office. Assistant State Attorney Melissa Clark successfully tried the case for the state. The Honorable Lee Smith presided over the case and will pronounce sentence at a later date.
